The granddaddy of all festivals arrived in Chicago this past weekend, kicking off its annual residency in Grant Park. Tens of thousands of music fans infested the city’s spectacular front yard, faced with the daunting task of choosing between an upwards of fifty or so acts on a daily basis.
It makes a music junkie wish they could clone themselves and be in more than one place at a time. Day one was no exception. Choices were carefully mulled over, time was utilized with the utmost of accuracy, and feet were faced with the task of carrying the balance of enthusiasm, duration and the threat of early burnout.
That being said, stellar performances were delivered by LZRD, Jessie Baez, Nick Mulvey, Valee, Cuco, Allie X, Basement, Wes Period, All Time Low, Curtis Harding, Terror Jr., Franz Ferdinand, Billie Eilish, Chvrches, Camila Cabello and south field headliners Arctic Monkeys. Deep cleansing breath, there are three more days left.
